We understand patients have several options when it comes to choosing an orthodontist. Here are just a few reasons why we are different than other
Erie, PA orthodontic offices.
Only Dr. Cardot does all the care - one patient at a time. From the placement of braces to their removal at the completion of care, he does it all. Dr. Cardot believes that patients receive the best results when personally treated by the orthodontist.
During orthodontic treatment, teeth, and sometimes entire facial structures, are permanently changed. Therefore, it is important to have the treatment appropriately and properly completed by an orthodontist. An orthodontic specialist, such as Dr. Cardot, has the training, experience, and treatment options to make sure patients get their best smiles. An orthodontist is the only dental professional who has formal orthodontic training in a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association and has completed at least a 2-3 year ADA-accredited orthodontic residency – a total of 7 years of training.
As an advocate of evidence-based orthodontics and being a cost-conscious provider, Dr. Cardot does not recommend Phase 1/Phase 2 treatment. University studies have shown that most patients do not significantly benefit from two phases of treatment. Two-phase treatment is neither time efficient for the patient nor cost efficient for the parents. The gold standard for starting comprehensive orthodontic treatment (braces) is when all the permanent teeth are fully erupted.
When orthodontic treatment is necessary but not at the time of the first visit, Dr. Cardot will continue to monitor the patient’s growth and development. For an orthodontist, knowing when to do treatment is important, but even more important is knowing when not to do it.
We offer complimentary consultations for patients considering orthodontic treatment.
The options are:
During the complimentary consultation, Dr. Cardot will thoroughly discuss the orthodontic problems, treatment options, when treatment should be initiated, and the cost of treatment so parents and patients have a clear understanding of what to expect.
DO IT RIGHT: only Dr. Cardot does all the care - one patient at a time. Neither an assistant nor a general dentist can replace an orthodontist personally taking care of you.
DO IT WELL: Dr. Cardot believes his patients deserve the best, natural smile and bite that they can get from orthodontic treatment. That's why he uses the best materials, including Titanium Orthos® mini braces, clear braces, and aligners.
DO IT ONCE: Dr. Cardot only initiates treatment when the time is right and does not promote unnecessary early treatment.
